I Miss Then and They Miss Me

I ate a burger today, I cried while eating it and I’m not sorry about it.

I went to see my dogs today, I took them food and also gave them a bath. It was nice to see them. I talked to my brother for a bit which was nice. We caught up on what’s going on with this “transition”, if you will. My mother told him that he was not to talk to me once they announce to the whole congregation that I am no longer a Jehovah Witness. They don’t announce the reason, but I’m sure in due time everyone will know.

I don’t know when that will be, but I know it will be soon. The procedure is to contact me and ask me if I want to repent or change my mind, if I did I would still be shunned until I showed that I really regretted what I did. But, since I will not change my mind, I will be expelled from the church. They haven’t contacted me, and if I am honest, I don’t know if they ever will. They tend to do what ever they want anyways.

My brother informed me that our mom doesn’t want my dogs there anymore. I don’t know what to do about that. I would like to bring them here but I don’t want to cause any issues with my boyfriends mom. She has a dog already and I don’t want there to be any issue with the dogs that will lead to all of us having issues with each other.

So, that’s why I was sad. I still am if I’m honest. I feel bad that my brother has to deal with all this, and I’m frustrated that my dogs are getting involved in it too, they’re dogs and they don’t know what is going on. I miss them and they miss me.

But we’ll see what happens.

Feeling Better.

I just came back from going “home”.

It was nice to see my dogs, I’m not very sure if they missed me at all though, they seemed very underwhelmed.

My mom was there but she didn’t speak to me or even acknowledge my presence. Most of the time that I was there she stayed in the kitchen cooking. I didn’t bother to say hi or try to speak to her, I know it wouldn’t have turned out ok.

It was nice catching up with my brother though. I enjoyed the brief moment we had. He told me what my mom has done. Shes told the “elders” in the congregation about me. They told her that they saw it coming somehow. He also informed me that she got into a small dispute with the neighbor (who is also a Jehovah’s Witness) because she didn’t tell my mom that she thought I was gay.

I don’t know when I’ll see my mom, or even if I will see her ever again. Who knows. But I’m glad I was able to feel better, even thought I hate to say so.

Sinking In

It has been a little over a week since I left home for coming out. I think it barley sunk in yesterday, though I still don’t feel as if I am at “home”.

I can say that I am feeling a little home sick though. I miss my dogs, I miss my bed, I miss a lot of things I used to do when I was alone and I could. But now things are different and even thought my boyfriends house doesn’t feel strange anymore it still doesn’t feel like home. Maybe soon it will.

Today I have to go back home and change some bills over to my brother since I no longer live there. I also have to pick up somethings that I left behind because my car was already to full when I left the first time.

I have been thinking about how it will be seeing my mom after all this. I doubt she will come out of her room or even acknowledge my presence. I know her and I know how she is and what she stands for so its pretty obvious to me how shes going to be. I just hope its easy for me.

Coming Out to my Brother

I came out to my brother.

Let me first say that I never thought it would be difficult coming out to him because he is one of the most “chillest” people I know. But there was always that little fear in me that seemed to be bigger than it actually is.

We were on our way back from the DMV, he passed his written driving test which I figured would be a good time to tell him that I am a flaming homosexual. The car ride was about 40 mins long so it was perfect time for a long chat.

I started off asking him what his thoughts were on our old religion. He was never into it as much as I was, he never got baptized in it, he also stopped going way before me, because he had to work. He told me that he liked some stories from the bible and all that¬† but that it just wasn’t for him, I told him I felt the same way.

Then I asked him what his thoughts were regarding ‘gay people’. He said he didn’t mind them, they’re just people. He seemed cool about it, I had asked him this question about ten years ago but he said he didn’t remember but he had said just about the same thing. Then I asked him what he thought if I were to be gay, to that he said he didn’t mind he didn’t really care, its my life he said.

I wasn’t nervous, I wasn’t even shaky. It was more of exciting. Like when you tell a friend about a new movie. I mean I shouldn’t feel nervous there is nothing wrong with being gay, it should be exciting to tell someone that actually.

After I told him that I was I asked him if he ever knew, he said he didn’t. He did notice that I had a ‘man’ as my screen saver on my phone. I took the opportunity to show him who he is when he asked if I had a boyfriend. He even said, “is he cute???”

My heart melted, I felt good for him to be excited for me to have a boyfriend. Then we talked about how my mom would take it. Both of us know she’s not going to like it. She’s going to shun me, and according to her religions rules, if you are associating yourself with a person who is ‘sinning’ you also have to be shunned. So, since I have my brothers support my mother would have to abide by her religions rules and not speak to the both of us.

Technically speaking, she is going to be losing both of her only children for that religion. Its really sad, and we talked about it for a while. We talked about her maybe not even wanting to live with us. If that’s the path she wants to take we will help her do what ever she needs to do, but were not going to kick her out of our lives like her religion tells them to do to us.

Either way, it has been done, I don’t feel any different. I am just glad he knows.

When will I tell my mom? I have no clue, for that I have to prepare myself mentally and emotionally. It wont be easy. Specially seeing her cry everyday or not having her speak to me and just ignore me while living in the same home. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

2013 Emails

The other day while at school, I decided to clean up my email folders and I found a conversation I had with someone back in 2013.

Just a little back story for you; At the time (2013) I had come to the conclusion that I was gay. I was in a religion that would not accept that, and I was also 17 living with a mother who would give her soul and life for said religion (oh how little has changed).

I searched online for any gay Jehovah Witness, because at that moment in time, I thought I was the only one. Surely there could not be another boy struggling with his sexuality inside a religion out there. I was wrong.

I found the story of this one guy who, after trying to take his life while being in this said religion, decided he was going to start living for himself. I was in tears when I read what he had to go through. His parents were more religious than my mom has ever been, they even had titles in the congregation, they were the perfect Christian family.

Its been a while and if I remember correctly he eventually left the religion once he met his boyfriend and came out to his family. Some left the religion with him and some stayed being and just shunned him and the ones who left, because that’s what they are trained to do.

I emailed him since he left his email at the end of his story, in case anyone needed to contact him. I look back and see how naive I was, and simply lost. At that time I thought my life was over. I felt so alone, so sad, helpless.

Once he emailed me back we started talking on a regular basis. We became friends. But we lost touch, but coming across those emails made me want to cry. They made me want to curl up in a ball and sleep for days. The sense of being alone and helpless rushed over me like a fever. But at the same time I wanted to know how he’s doing.

I emailed him. I still haven’t received a reply. Who knows, he might have changed his email address, or the email could have gone to spam. He might just not even remember who I am, I’m assuming I wasn’t the only one he got emails from back them. Hopefully he replies.

I started to think how different Me in the past and Me in the present are. I wonder what would happen if they were in a room together. The things I would tell my past self. Then I thought about the Me in the future. What is He going to think of the person that I am now? Will I be the same? Will my thoughts and opinions change? Who will I be in the next ten years?

Its a lot to think about.

Here To Stay

I am a flip flopper. Better said I was?

My boyfriend told me recently that he is really scared that I will go back to my former religion. He said that living with my mother who is still in it will make me want to go back. He thinks that some of my former friends that are in that religion will find a way to convince me to return and drop everything I have with him.

Why does he feel this way? Because it has happened before. It has happened so many times I can’t count them all.

I will be living my life and then I’ll just drop everything and go back to the “religion” because I feel guilty. When I was dating him last year I did the same thing. I talked to him for about a month, and then I told him that I had to stop talking to him for religions reasons. But gladly we found our way back to each other after a year.

This is what scares him. Me leaving again, now that we have an established relationship and its honestly going great, he’s scared one day I’ll just up and leave.

There’s nothing I can do or say that will make him change his way of thinking. He feels that way because that’s what he knows and I can’t blame him or be mad at him for thinking that way. He’s allowed to.

All I can do is show him how committed I am to him. Show him that I am here to stay. I know for a fact that I don’t want to go back to the place I was in, but who’s to say that mentality will or wont change? It’s crazy for me to even think that I would return. I can’t even imagine it. But crazy shit happens all the time, doesn’t it?

Nothing is for certain in this life, nothing. Not even the love he says he has for me.

A First

Today marks a first for me. My mother left home about two hours ago. Every so often about three times a year Jehovah Witnesses from different congregations gather for a whole day and listen to many many speeches allegedly about the Bible.

Today is the first time in all my twenty five years of living that I will not be attending. It feels good. I thought I was going to have an empty feeling. Or a sense of sadness. But I feel fine. I don’t feel bad about it. I know that she has to be there on her own, and most likely people will ask her where her kids are at. But even though that may be true, I can’t be there.

The last time I went I was out of the religion, but I decided to go for her, again, and it was about three months ago. I was only in the religion for her. (If I had a dollar for every time I’ve ever said that, I’d be rich). I had to stop doing that, I had to start living my own life.

I thought that she was going to try to invite me or urge me to go, but she didn’t. I think she has finally accepted the fact that I wont be going back. I respect that from her. I don’t get on her about her religious stuff and she doesn’t tell me anything about me living my life.

I’ve been spending all my weekends with my boyfriend for more than a month now. She hasn’t asked me about it. I’m assuming she must know I’m seeing someone, before this I would spend my weekends in bed watching Netflix. Now my weekends are more exciting.

Speaking of my boyfriend, I feel like I haven’t talked about him in a while. But that’s just me, if I don’t talk about him in five minutes I feel like its been days. We’re doing great, in case anyone cared.

I’m off to spend the weekend with him. I hope everyone else has a great weekend as well.

Jehovah Witnesses Are Harassing Me

I thought it was over. But of course why would it be? Cults will not leave anyone to rest in peace once they leave their “flock”.

I haven’t been to or seen anyone from church in about more than six months now. I have not gone door to door soliciting people to come and “join” the religion for longer than that. So, tell me why I get called by one of the higher ups in the church and get told if I have my “numbers”.

I then get another text from another one a few days later and he says that he wants the “progress report” for the past months from my family and mine. This is basically a paper a Jehovah Witness has to fill out each month on how many hours they spent knocking on doors, how many people they spoke to, and how many pamphlets they gave. I know it sounds crazy, what’s crazy is how they act like I haven’t been going for months and have the audacity and ask me for them out of the blue like I just took a little mini vacation and I’m on the way back.

After I was flooded with text messages and I didn’t respond, I was then harassed with phone calls. One after another, I had to block them them. I had enough, I don’t need them in my life anyways. Plus, there is no reason in me going back and forth with them telling them that I’m not going to go back because all they’ll try to do is “fix me”, as if I was broken, no I’m not, I just actually found out the Truth this time. When you don’t agree with their believes they classify you as “sick” or even “under Satan’s control”.

Days later I got a text from another person from church saying he wanted to hang out with me and some other “brothers” and asked when I was available. Instant block. Do they not get a hint?

I know I could just tell them, write a letter and officially leave them as an organization. (Yes organization, its not a religion, inside they even call it organization, I remember while being in there I would all the time). In doing so, I would lose my mother. Even though we live together I know she’d stop talking to me, she would only direct her word for anything that was absolutely¬†necessary. That’s so fucked up and its the way that they have made her think it “pleases God” or its what he wants. I doubt God wants a mother to shun her own son.

Today I got a text from my ex’s mom. OUT OF ANYONE she had to text me. She said that I was making a mistake and that I was hurting everyone with my actions. What the actual fuck!? What type of mind manipulative guilt are you trying to play here? I’m not here for it. Am I doing anything illegal? Am I off physically hurting people with my actions? NO, they are hurting themselves because they have decided to think what they have been told to think with out actually researching it and finding out for themselves. I have nothing to do with it.

I’m so tired of them hitting me up all randomly when I’m finally living a good life. The cult has them really wound up into making them believe exactly what they want. My own mother doesn’t even bother me with this shit. She has accepted I’m not going back, why are they trying to ruin that?

They need to move on, just like I have. I already made my decision, and I’m fucking happy as hell with it.

I Want To Know The Actual Truth

steven-weinberg-quote-lbw3m7r

I saw this quote the other day. I was watching a YouTube video about what the difference between religion and and actually knowing God or Jesus was.

I have to take a moment to stop before I continue, I know that my blog has been centered around religion a lot lately. I didn’t mean for my blog to go into that type of direction, but I am glad that it has. I know I am not the only one out there that questions how religions all depict God and their form of worship. Plus, as rude as it may sound, I say this in the most respectful way that I can, this is my blog so I can write what ever I want. And this is the matter at hand that is going on in my life at the moment so I need to talk about it, for me. If it helps others, than I’m glad it did that’t great.

Any who, (that was long). But continuing on from before, I have been watching a lot of videos on religion. I’ve been doing a lot of research. I can’t seem to move on. I feel like I have been robbed of years of my life.

All my life I was in a religion I didn’t want to be in, but I was told it was the only way and the only Truth. Now, discovering that it is not in fact so, I will never be able to get those years back. I’m processing that still, and it may take some time and I think that’s ok. I have accepted that for myself.

The video that I saw was a guy explaining how he is Christian but yet he does not belong to any religion or any church. Religion was made by man, he stated. Which is true. I can go out there today and just start a new religion, call it what ever I want, and say that it’s the actual true religion. What I liked, or what really made me understand where he was coming from and I could relate with, because I have tried and proved this myself which is; religion is a form of changing and modifying your personality to the way the church or that religion wants you to be. You have to be someone that the church tells you to be if you want to remain part of it, and they back it up using Bible texts, but what does the Bible actually say?

What ever Bible you pick up you can find that this dude named Jesus said that all you had to do is to believe in him. All you had to do was be grateful that he gave His life for all of our sins. After this all religions start interpretation what the Bible says regarding every single aspect of life differently.

Why do I like the quote from above? Well, as it says, the good people will continue to be good, evil people will continue to be evil. What really gets me is the last line.

“For good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

What does this mean? I’ll tell you what I was able to get from it. Religion is one of those things that “good people” do, but those good people will do “evil things” and anything that is necessary to protect their religion. Its true. Wars in the past only provide evidence of this. All these believers are willing to kill for land, they are willing to kill thousands of innocent people to keep or defend their religion, even when the Bible says that you are supposed to love your neighbor and not kill. Some religions even say that as long as its for their religion that it justifies their actions.

Not to mention all the people that go out and do hate crimes because they feel as if they are correct and need to do something about it. All because of religion. I’ve met people that do not belong to any church or organization, and they are way more better people than those that go to Sunday service. That doesn’t mean they don’t believe in God or something. They do, they’re just not part of any religion, they try to do their best in life, and most of the time they are so much less judgmental then the rest of those religious going to church all the time people.

No offense to the people that are good and respect everyone and do have a religion to believe in. But if you do have a religion you are willing to die for, why? Are you dying for that religion or for the God that you say you believe in? If that religion tells you to change something about yourself you will do it? What if they tell you that you have to do something that the Bible clearly doesn’t state, but they back up their authority with random texts and say that if you don’t obey its as if you are disobeying God himself.

I’m not saying that I have “found the light”. I’m still searching. I want to discover whats out there, I want to know the actual Truth. What if there is no God? What if it all is science? What if there is God, and there is a plan that in place for the human race? Who is right? Does God really care what religion you are? There are thousands of religions out there that revolve around the same thing, and they only differ on some of their teachings.

Why can’t you just be a good person, respect others, be kind and enjoy as much of life as you can?

Aren’t we all just humans?

Could We Still Have A Friendship?

I just came back from seeing an old (church) friend that I haven’t seen in a long while. I don’t know how to feel about it.

I miss him. I kind of sort of miss everyone, well not everyone but some. I miss their personalities and their companionship. This friend and I were super close when I was a Jehovah Witness. He was the first one that I told that I was leaving the religion. At the time I told him our relationship wasn’t at its best. Yes, I was mad at him, and yes, I held that grudge for so long.

It was nice seeing him again. Talking like there was nothing wrong between us. There really isn’t. I don’t hold anything against him. I don’t. I hope he doesn’t either. We went out to eat and we talked. Laughed. Caught up on things that have gone on in our lives since the last time I saw him. He’s doing well.

He didn’t bring up the subject of religion. He didn’t ask me what I was going to do. I appreciate that. Does it make me a fool to believe we could still have a friendship? Knowing very well that we do not belong to the same religion? That we don’t believe the same things? Or maybe this is an attempt to get me back in there? What if he’s being nice to me in order for me to see that its not all bad? What if that was my Girlfriends plan all along? My mother has been increasingly nice to me. And just this morning my GF’s mom wanted to have lunch with me to “talk”. Am I now just paranoid?

Is this all just a game to everyone? My feelings are all over the place and I don’t even know what to think. First I want to believe that everyone genuinely misses me and wants to be part of my life like they once were. Another part of me looks past all this and looks beyond their kindness and knows that they are trained by their religion to be kind to those who have strayed away in hopes that they will go back. Maybe its a little of both?

I think will my emotion and right now I have a lot of them so I don’t know what to think. All these people say they want the best for me but when I tell them that the best for me is not going back they still insist on me returning.

This is confusing the shit out of me. I don’t like getting ambushed like this.

I feel like I’m complaining that they are being nice to me. I am. If they were rude or disrespectful to me then it would be way easier to pick what side I want to be on. But that’s why this is such a mind game, because they are this way.

Fuck.
